Insulation pads, often referred to in the industry as resin pads, high creepage distance pads, or pads specifically designed for dry-type transformers, are commonly abbreviated as DMC—reflecting their typical material composition. This component is primarily made from chopped glass fibers, unsaturated polyester resin, along with fillers and other additives. After thorough mixing, it is molded into shape using a hot-press process. Common finished colors include vibrant red and iron red, catering to various identification or application requirements.
Structurally, the spacers are designed with specific protrusions or contours, enabling them to play a crucial role in supporting, cushioning, and precisely positioning the windings within dry-type transformers. At the same time, their unique structural features also contribute to effective shock absorption and buffering. Typically, in a single transformer, spacers are divided into upper and lower units, arranged symmetrically for installation—working together to create a robust insulation and mechanical support system.
This component is part of the transformer's internal structure, and its performance is closely linked to the overall reliability of the transformer.
